Cure for AIDS

Saw this post randomly on facebook: Rare Treatment is Reported to Cure AIDS Patient
As reported in The New York Times, AIDS was cured by transplanting blood stem cells from someone who is naturally resistant to HIV. This treatment is very high risk, because it involved the total elimination of your blood cells, meaning you will have zero immunity to fight off even the mildest pathogen that an infant can fight against on his own.
But I guess this report brings hope to realising the goal of curing AIDS.
And now scientists are working on artificially introducing the mutation that makes you resistant to HIV. Which brings me to my worry. If say Mr. A was to be successfully "mutated" such that he is resistant to HIV, he might still end up acquiring the virus, but he would not be affected, making him a carrier. And then if he was to screw around with other "un-mutated" women/men, these people are at the risk of being infected and getting AIDS.
Mr. A will seem like an innocent party, because he wouldn't know he is a carrier. So who's to blame?
