Seoul Weekend
We went to Seoul during the weekends. For 2 days, I spent about 100usd (not inclusive of the MAC loose powder I bought, and lunch that I treated my friends). Travelling to and fro Seoul is already about 20usd.

We had japanese food for lunch at COEX mall. Then we went to Bandi and Luni's Bookstore to buy some english books. English books are not that easy to find in Korea. I bought "Love in the time of Cholera"

Then I cannot resist the temptation of a good cup of Java Chip frappucino from Starbucks. It cost 6000 won (=6 USD), which is really expensive. But in Korea, the decent coffees are from Starbucks and Coffee Bean. The other coffee shops are not that exciting. I am a coffee lover, so it is hard for me to find good coffees here.

After that we went to National Museum of Korea to see this photography exhibition. There is also regular exhibition on history of Korea. We spent about 3 hours in the museum. It was so tiring.

This is called reflecting pond. The first question that popped up in my mind was, is it because the pond has a reflective surface, or is it because you are suppose to reflect upon yourself at the pond, that is got its name.

Fantastic scenery at this place. At the terrace, you can see Seoul Tower on the hill.
Inside the museum, there are a couple of interesting things.

From top left clockwise: Tubular jade, bricks with inscription, jar coffin, over 11,000 combinations of Hangeul, how the Hangeul is invented based on heaven, earth, humanity, and the Silla King crown.

About this crown, the last time I went for summer studies, we visited the king's tomb in Gyeongju. There, we saw the replica. What I find this crown really beautiful is that the gold is thinly made, and the jade accessories are all embryo-shaped, to signify fertility of the king. I have always wanted to see the actual artifact. And there it was, cased together with the belt in the museum. It is very magnificent.

We had dinner at the museum, and went to Seoul Tower after that. My second time there actually, but I figured a smarter way to take picture at the top of the tower.

As you stare about 4500km from this point, you will see Singapore! If I miss home, I will simply stare at this picture and imagine the tiny red dot. I should consider putting this as my desktop picture.

Next day, we accompanied our korean friend to Yoeuido Gospel Church. Apparently the churh is very famous, and so is their pastor. I will blog about this in another entry, because I had alot of thoughts about church after attending it.

Then we went to Dongdaemun for shopping. We shopped at a.pm, which is pretty good. I bought my beret hat (after procastinating so long in Singapore), it cost about 15 sing. And we came to a conclusion, hats only go well with winter/spring clothings.

So by the time it was evening, and we had dinner before heading to city terminal. I discovered this huge atas shopping mall at the terminal. It is called Shinsegae. The thing that caught my eye first was Shu Uemura counter. Then we went in to take a look, and I discovered it housed all the international cosmetic brand, includng Benefits, MAC, Kiehl's. I was pretty excited actually.

Then we discovered there is still 1 hour more to our bus back to Daejeon, so I took the opportunity to buy my MAC loose powder. Yeah! I found my loose powder! I am so happy to get MAC! Happy happy! It cost 35,000 won, about 52 sing, which is a little more expensive than in Singapore, but still okay.

We reached back dorm around 12am. It was so tiring! I was late for work today, but then my supervisor also came late, keke. And while we were in the bus happily sleeping away, my mum called me quite a few times, but I didn't realise until quite sometime later. We talked abit and my phone batt went flat, so I called back when I reached the dorm. My mum said she kept dreaming of someone trying to kill her. I felt a little uneasy after hearing it, not sure why though. I guess being away from your family really make you show more concern to them.
*prays everything in Singapore, in Korea, goes well for everyone*
