Lab culture

I must let everyone know this. The lab culture in Korea is soooooo different from Singapore. I am not exaggerating. I was kind of uncomfortable and felt strange at first, actually even till now.
In sbs, we were trained to wear lab coats, pants and covered shoes to protect ourselves from any potential chemical spillage. Here, all these are not required. You can wear slippers, skirts, and everyone don't wear lab coats. I shouldn't have waste my luggage weight to bring my lab coat.
Next, latex gloves are the minimum. Sometimes when we handle agarose gel with ethidium bromide, we wear nitrile gloves or double latex, because EB is carcinogenic. Here, they wear plastic gloves, yes, those that are used to handle food.
Same kind of labs, same reagents used, but different standards practised.
