.she is.

Though she is a material girl, she is also a plain jane. She may be a party animal. But all she wants, is to be loved and cared.

I went to watch fireworks on Friday with my freshies. The fireworks were really magnificent, very beautiful.

After that, we were trying to meet up at Marina Square, and I was at the bridge near Esplanade. So we decided to go through the Esplanade itself to get there. In Esplanade, they turn all the escalators to downwards, and we were trying to go up, so the only way was to take a lift, as I don't see any staircase around.

The lift finally came after quite some time, cause there was only one operating lift there. When I got in, I noticed a lady carrying a intellectually disabled child, and I ended up standing right next to her. The lift was supposedly to go down, but some how it went up again.

The lady was very frustrated. She started to yell at everyone in the lift. She said that lift are for those handicaps, and we should be taking the escalators instead. Then one young guy behind her actually challenge her and asked is there a handicap here? Apparently, that guy didn't notice the child infront of him.

When the lady starting yelling, I really didn't know what to say, because I did notice the child. However, it wasn't our choice to take the lift, and it wasn't our fault that the lift choose to go up instead. What I was more astonished is that young guy, he actually challenged the lady. I mean, come on, what she said was right, priority is given to the elderly and the disabled when taking the lift.

I actually wanted to tell that lady that all the escalators are going down and we have no choice but to take the lift, and hope she will understand. But then, I felt that the best thing to do was to leave the lift as quickly as possible.

I wonder about that lady's frustration. Is it the unwillingness of Singaporean to accept the handicaps, accumulated overtime that make her feel so frustrated?
